Woodheys Park Friend’s group are looking for volunteers to spruce up the hockey pitch in Woodheys park. Saturday the 19th Novermber at 12pm the friend’s group are going to sort-out the badly needed repairs to the hockey pitch goalmouths. This popular area of the park is looking very well used along with the adjacent miniature 5-a-side pitch and so a little TLC is going to be performed on it. The 5-a-side pitch will have to wait until Trafford Council can provide a Rotovator is the ground is to hard to be turned over manually but the hockey pitch is a lot more manageable. The hockey pitch is well used during the summer as a football pitch and is a victim of it’s own success. The goalmouths have been re-turfed in the past but this time a lifting, airing and re-seeding along with a mulch is in order. At this time of year with winter fast approaching the pitches are used far less than in the summer and so the friends group believe the time is right to carry out this important work. Any volunteers who want to lend a hand are more than welcome and many hands will make light work of this gentle tidy-up. We will be meeting directly at the hockey pitch which is at the end of the Pitch-And-Putt.
Over the winter we have a number of maintenance projects planned for the park and there will be several opportunities to put yourself forward for helping in the park. If you want to be kept abreast of them register and keep checking the website for more details.
